Fujiwara-no-Sai is a spirit from the Heian era of Japan and mentor of Hikaru Shindo who is chosen by Sai to carry his go forward. Originally Sai was one of the Emperor’s Go instructors, and he was wrongly accused of cheating and therefore banished from the kingdom. Filled with despair, he drowned himself in a nearby pond. However, Sai was insisted in his go and helped Hikaru much, for example, Sai would always teach Hikaru how to win the game and beat rivals. Sai is mature but most time he behave like a child, so he is really cute.
It’s believed that all of fans of Hikaru’ Go will be frustrated and sad for Sai’s disappearance, but cosplay will recall our memory about him. You will always find Sai wears his hat which covers his long hair. His costumes are traditional clothes in Heian era, white over clothes and red shirt reflect his lonely inner heart. When you cosplay Sai, don’t forget to hold a folding fan in your hand, because the fan exudes his real charisma.
